YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–On New Year’s Eve–US Ambassador to Armenia John Ordway addressed the people of Armenia and reflected on the last ten years of US-Armenian cooperation. Ordway focused mainly on the economic–democratic–and legal advancemen’s made by Armenia because of its cooperation with the US. "We have accomplished a lot together but there is still much to be done," he said–adding that the new year’s highest priorities will be to strengthen Armenia’s democracy in all levels of the society–promoting economic growth–and reducing the poverty rate.
The ambassador also said that in 2002 "with the Minsk group partners the US will be intensifying its efforts to seek a just–durable and mutually acceptable solution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict."
Ordway also spoke about that efforts the countries made to implement a joint front to combat international terrorism and pointed out that Armenia and the United States will continue to build strong ties in the coming year.
