YEREVAN (RFE/RL)–President Robert Kocharian may meet with his American counterpart Bill Clinton "in the beginning of next year," the Armenian presidential press secretary said on Friday. Gassia Apkarian told reporters that the summit meeting is being "planned" by the two governmen’s but gave no details. Apkarian spoke after the end of Kocharian’s week-long unofficial visit to the US which she said has produced "very big results."
Kocharian delivered a speech at a session of the UN General Assembly and traveled across the country–meeting with leaders of the large Armenian-American community and businessmen. Apkarian said a meeting with US Secretary of State Madeline Albright in New York was canceled for "lack of time" on both sides.
