YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The US Congress’ support to the Nagorno Karabakh Republic’s economy will create reliable prerequisites for ensuring durable peace in the Transcaucasus–Karabakh Prime Minister Anoushavan Danielian said during his meeting with a group of US congressmen and senators. The meeting discussed a wide range of issues.
Danielian and "Hayastan" Fund Executive Director Vahan Ghevondian also met with benefactors Rouben Nazarian and Vardan Chichikian.
During a ceremonial opening of a selling exhibition of modern Armenian carpets–the prime minister stressed the need for creating auspicious investment conditions in Artsakh and encouraging investment policies. He stressed that further development of industrial and processing enterprises of Artsakh depends on the construction of a North-South road.
Danielian and his party were invited to the annual meeting of the Armenian Evangelic Society. The prime minister called for the continuation of these programs and gradual passing on to developmental programs.
AES officials–who had arrived from different parts of the world–expressed readiness to support the idea of holding a telethon.
The delegation led by Danielian met with members of the ARF Central Committee of the Western US. During the meeting the prime minister presented the current state of the negotiating process and the Karabakh settlement–the measures being taken by the government to achieve economic improvemen’s–better living conditions–and to rehabilitate the war-torn areas.
Danielian also met with representatives of the Armenian community of Los Angeles.
Over a thousand spectators–attending the concert of the "Ani" group–expressed readiness to actively participate in the upcoming telethon.
The Karabakh delegation will continue its mission in New York–where meetings with representatives of Armenian organizations on the US east coast are planned.
