US Will Not Attend Gallipoli Celebrations in Turkey

WASHINGTON—The United States will not attend Turkey’s celebration of the Battle of Gallipoli on April 24, according to Turkey’s Sozcu daily newspaper, which reports that neither President Obama nor a US delegation will be present.

The Turkish government slated its annual remembrance event for April 24 in a clear attempt to detract from commemorations of the Armenian Genocide, which have taken place on April 24 every year.

Although a U.S. delegation will not partake in the event, the U.S. Ambassador to Turkey John Bass will be in attendance, Sozcu reports.

The Vatican, which reaffirmed the Armenian Genocide earlier this month with a Holy Mass, has also declined to attend the event, as have top officials in Germany, including Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Joachim Gauck.

John Bass must instead resign his post as an ambassador in Turkey. Who is fooling who and who is favoring the Genocidal Turkey! Enough of this shameful Genocidal Turkey bed love affair! What a confused policy! One end does not know from the other! This whole thing is a laughable circus. Shame on you Obama.

The US will not attend Gallipoli Celebrations because of her guilt feeling of not calling the word Genocide. Shame on you President Obama. Let that guilt feeling carry with you for ever and ever. The history book is closed on you!

This changes nothing. The US ambassador should NOT attend this event. Attendance is based on the administration’s interests and certainly not out of any deference to Armenians. The democratic party lost another supporter.

Let’s keep track of those westerners who attend. A hall of shame for them should be built for those sick souls who attend such a farce as this.
