YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Under the agreement signed between USAID and the US Institute of Urban Development–a two-year $20 million earthquake rehabilitation program will soon be launched. The program will be implemented by the US Institute of Urban Development with the sponsorship of USAID.
The rehabilitation program is aimed providing housing for 4,000 families in Lori and Shiraz. Three-thousand out of the four thousand (2,400 in Gyumri and 600 in Lori) will receive certificates granting them the right to purchase apartmen’s in these regions. One-thousand families will receive gran’s for completing the construction or for repairing their houses. The program also provides financing for the restoration of 80 residential buildings in the aforementioned regions.
