GLENDALE–Vahe Berberian’s latest one man show, Sagayn, the hilariously engaging monologue, has been released on DVD.
Berberian performed Sagayn for months at The Brandview Collection in Glendale and has taken the show on the road to various cities in the U.S. and abroad to packed audiences.
Written and preformed in Armenian by Berberian, the one hour and thirty minutes long Sagayn is directed by Gor Kirakosian (Big Story in a Small City). The DVD includes extra features, with footage of Vahe in Aleppo, Beirut and Yerevan.
“Sagayn’s success was phenomenal”, says producer Christina Shirinyan. “In Glendale, we had an incredibly diverse audience that simply loved it and kept on coming back for more. And the response to the shows in the Armenian communities during the tour has been sensational.”
The shows structure is very close to his previous monologues Yevaylen, Nayev and Dagaveen. Gut with Sagayn, Berberian has pushed the envelope by touching on, what some might consider, sensitive topics.
Sagayn finds absurdity and great humor in not just the Armenian, but the human condition in general. With his unique spin on everyday topics, Berberian will keep you laughing long after the show is over.
The DVDs and videos are available at most Armenian bookstores and grocery stores in California. It can also be purchased at vaheberberian.com.
