SHERMAN OAKS–The San Fernando Valley Armenian National Committee announced on Thursday that close to a dozen elected officials have already committed to attend a December 10 Valley area private reception to benefit ANC projects in the year 2000.
Congressman Brad Sherman–State Assemblyman Robert Hertzberg–Los Angeles Unified School District Board Members Caprice Young and Julie Korenstein–along with Councilmen George Chapjian of Duarte and Rafi Manoukian of Glendale are just some of the area officials who will be attending the event scheduled for Friday–December 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Vahak and Baydzar Thomasian in Sherman Oaks.
"This event will provide concerned Armenian Americans from the San Fernando Valley the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with their elected representatives in a warm and informal atmosphere," stated ANC-San Fernando Valley Chairman Nshan Bostanian. "Our work in advancing issues impacting the fate of Armenia and Karabakh and helping resolve problems closer to home–such as the flare up of tensions at Grant High School in North Hollywood–requires both financial and human resources.
The money raised next Friday will help the Armenian National Committee effectively pursue local–regional and national issues in the year 2000," concluded Bostanian.
