NORTH HOLLWOOD – Pete Sanchez, former City Council candidate and leader of the Valley Village community, endorsed Paul Krekorian this week, another neighborhood advocate to endorse Krekorian. With Sanchez, and former candidates Tamar Galatzan and Mary Benson. Krekorian now has the support of the top-tier finishers in the primary. Their support accounted for about one-quarter of all votes cast on Sept. 22.

“I am convinced that there is only one choice for those of us who would like to see a more responsive and accountable City Hall,” Sanchez said. “I am supporting Paul Krekorian to be our next City Council Member and I hope you will join me in casting your vote for him. During my campaign, I got to know both candidates and I have studied their respective philosophies and vision. On December 8, we will make an important decision about the future of our city and our community when we choose between the two candidates. I am convinced that there is only one choice for those of us who would like to see a more responsive and accountable City Hall. I am supporting Paul Krekorian to be our next City Council Member and I hope you will join me in casting your vote for him.”

Sanchez, a former president of Neighborhood Council Valley Village, received 796 votes (4.86%) in the first round.

“Pete repeatedly showed how one person can affect major change in his community – a primary reason why I am pleased to have his support on my campaign that is powered by grassroots support,” Krekorian said. “I look forward to working with Pete in spreading our message of true reform for Los Angeles and showing Valley Village – and all of CD2 – that I will be their advocate in City Hall.”

Nearly a dozen neighborhood leaders and activists from Sunland-Tujuga threw their weight behind Los Angeles City Council Candidate Paul Krekorian Friday, a day before he opened a new campaign office on Commerce Avenue.

“We believe that Paul Krekorian is the person who should fill the seat on the City Council,” the letter said. “His successful track record in public service demonstrates his ability to identify issues, come up with creative solutions, and work hard to get them implemented.  We need this fresh approach in City Hall.” The authors include leaders on the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council, La Tuna Canyon Community Association and Foothill Trails Neighborhood Council.  Business leaders, parks advocates and teachers are also included.

The endorsement of CD2s community leaders follows the endorsement of former candidates Mary Benson – a leader in the northern part of the second council district and Tamar Galatzan – a neighborhood prosecutor and LAUSD board member. In addition, 100 neighborhood leaders from throughout CD2 have backed who they consider the true choice for the community.

“I am honored that Sunland-Tujunga has recognized what so many others that make up this wide mosaic of a district already have: That I am the choice of the community,” Krekorian said. “With their help, we can defeat the special moneyed interests that are trying to control this district; with their help, we can ensure an activist City Council office that responds to the unique needs of the community; and with their help, we can say no to the lobbyists, developers and insiders whose tentacles have clawed their way into this race. This district needs the kind of independence Sunland-Tujunga knows I will offer, not wink-and-a-nod representation that comes from a war chest stuffed with special interest cash.”

Krekorian’s new Sunland-Tujunga office, at 10019 Commerce Ave. opened Saturday, with a kick off party.

Hold on. There is an article about a man named Pete Sanchez supporting Paul Krekorian but the pictures with Mr. Krekorian are with ARF and ANC folks? Does this make sense to anyone?

William, if you read on the article mentions the kick off for Mr. Krekorian’s Tujunga office. The pictures are from that event, mentioned in the article.
