It is with deep regret that the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau announces the passing of former Bureau member and ARF aactivist Antranig Ourfalian that took place on Tuesday–August 8–2006. Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau On the sad occasion of the passing of prominent ARF member Antranig Ourfalian–the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Central Committee of Western USA–on behalf of its bodies and rank and file–extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and relatives. Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western US Central Committee Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian–the Prelacy Religious and Executive councils announce the passing of community leader Antranig Ourfalian. Funeral services will be held on Saturday–August 12 at 10:30 at St. Mary’s Church in Glendale. Burial will take place Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn Cemetery. Veteran Armenian Revolutionary Federation member–activist and educator Antranig Ourfalian passed away Tuesday after a long illness. He was 83. Born in 1923 in the village Kaboousieh in Mousa Dagh–Ourfalian received his elementary education there and left for Jerusalem where he attended the "Jarangavorats" school under the tutelage of Hagop Oshagan. He returned to the Ainjar–Lebanon–where he became a teacher at the local "Haratch" school. After moving to Beirut–he became the principal of the "Lousinian" (later renamed to "Aksor Kassardjian) school until the end of the 1980’s. At a very young age–Ourfalian joined the ran’s of the ARF–receiving his initial educational from the famed writer and intellectual Roupen. He held several leadership positions in the ARF–including the executive of his local chapter–the ARF Central Committee of Lebanon–and in 1963 he was elected on the ARF Bureau. Also at a young age–Ourfalian became an active and devoted member of the Homenetmen. He was also very active in the activities of the Great House of Cilicia. During the Lebanese civil war–he was the chairman of the Prelacy Executive Council. Ourfalian was also very active in the ARF press and has worked as a contributor to the Aztag daily newspaper in Lebanon and the Asbarez daily newspaper. His memoirs were published in 1991. >
