YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–An international workshop on the elaboration of an interstate system of seismic hazard management and mutual assistance in case of disastrous earthquakes was held in Yerevan from November 10 to 12 on the initiative of the National Service of Seismic Protection. The workshop participants addressed a message to the presidents of Armenia–Georgia–Azerbaijan and Russia.
NSSP Head Sergey Balasanian said that the message points out that the task of reducing seismic risks is an integral part of national security and must be considered a priority in the national and regional policy. In particular–materials and technical bases must be established for solving a number of urgent problems–including monitoring seismic risk–assessment of seismic risk–drafting of laws and other documen’s aimed at reducing seismic risk. The message was signed by the representatives of Armenia–Georgia–Russia and Azerbaijan.
