YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A senior official of the Armenian education and science ministry said Monday that the European Union will provide Armenia 15 million euros to reforms in the vocational and pre-school education systems.
Samvel Pipoyan, head of the ministry’s vocational and pre-school education department, said the funds would be spent in three stages between 2008 and 2010.
The first stage will be to improve housing conditions and upgrade their material and technical basis, the second will be to train about 3.500 teachers and the last one will be to develop a new tuition methodology.
Pipoyan also said the salaries of teachers in vocational schools would increase next year by 5,000 Drams to 30,000 and to 90,000 Drams in 2009.
