3 Soldiers Injured as Azerbaijan Fires on Gegharkunik

Azerbaijani forces fired at Armenian positions in the Gegharkunik Province on Friday, injuring three Armenian soldiers, reported Armenia’s Defense Ministry.

The injuries were not life-threatening. Earlier this week, as a result of Azerbaijani forces’ indiscriminate shooting, the leader of the Yeraskh community in the Ararat province was injured. Azerbaijani forces also killed an Armenian soldier on July 14.

The Defense Ministry said that the intense gunfire exchange was observed within the Azerbaijani military base, adding that there could have been an internal incident among Azerbaijani servicemen.

“This is evidenced by the fact that the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan stated in its message that an Azerbaijani soldier was killed after the fire opened by the Armenian side,” the Armenian Defense Ministry said, adding that  the Armenian side refrained from counter-action until the moment when Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire on the Armenian positions.

The Armenpress news agency has published footage of Azerbaijani forces brutally beating another Azerbaijani soldier in Artsakh’s occupied Karvachar.
