PARIS—The Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations in France issued a statement calling on citizens to assemble in front of the French Senate on Jan. 23, in support of the bill criminalizing genocide denial. The French Senate is scheduled to convene and vote on the bill on that day, starting at 2 p.m.
The CCAF expects a sizeable rally opposing the bill. “Faced with a propaganda campaign marked with hatred, and orchestrated by forces hostile to the bill, and by a street rally organized by the falsifiers of history, we call upon those citizens who stand by justice to denounce [genocide] denial that kills its victims a second time around, and spreads hatred and fanaticism. No to denial, racism, and xenophobia!” read the statement. “Yes to a Republican law that protects human dignity, the victims, and surviving generations!”
CCAF has more than 40 member organizations, including the ARF.
The demonstration is to take place on Jan. 23, at 2 p.m., on Tournon St., facing the Senate.
Every single French Armenian should attend the rally on January 23rd. Vive La France, Vive Sarkozy.
