GLENDALE—As the crisis in Syria continues, so do the acts of kind-hearted Armenian-Americans to help the Syrian Armenians.
Rafi and Sarkis Ourfalian of the law firm Ourfalian & Ourfalian contributed $7,000 to the Syrian Armenian Relief Fund (SARF) in lieu of gifts and greeting cards for this Christmas season. They sent a letter to their friends and associates urging them to do the same, “We encourage all our friends to remember those less fortunate than ourselves in the spirit of the holidays and do what you can to help their plight.”
SARF Executive Council Chairperson, Zaven Khanjian, said of the donation, “It is exemplary and very encouraging that the Christmas spirit continues to direct charity-minded individuals and firms to help sustain Armenians in Syria.” Khanjian added that the Sis Compatriotic & Cultural Society had raised $4,200 for Syrian Armenians.

Armenians are not imaginative thinkers and that has been our curse. If we study the Jews, they were willing to create a homeland in Madagascar before the Balfour accord. The Syrian Armenian representatives should negotiate with the Mr. Assad to create a joint Alawite /Armenian Republic of Syria along Syria’s Mediterranean coast and abandon the rest of Syria to the terrorist Muslims Brotherhood. The key is to have a smaller piece of land to be able to control the borders effectively to prevent terrorist infiltration. They would be able to concentrate military forces in a smaller area and prevent them from being stretched too far. This would allow the regime to survive.
