ENCINO—The Armenian National Committee of America San Fernando Valley West Chapter met with California State Assemblymember Bob Blumenfield, who is running in the Los Angeles City Council race this spring.
The ANCA-SFW board welcomed the Assemblymember and discussed areas of common interest on Thursday, February 14th. During their discussions, Blumenfield noted his productive relationship with the San Fernando Valley Armenian American community as Assemblymember for the 45th district. Moreover, Assemblymember Blumenfield promised to continue to advocate for the Armenian American community, if elected to the Los Angeles City Council.
The Assemblymember is running for the Los Angeles City Council’s 3rd district seat, which is currently held by Dennis Zine, who will be concluding his maximum two term tenure. The 3rd district’s boundaries encompass most of the west San Fernando Valley. “We welcome Assemblymember Blumenfield’s candidacy to the Los Angeles City Council,” said Nareg S. Kitsinian, Esq., Chairman of the ANCA San Fernando Valley West. “We offer him our full endorsement and look forward to working with him in the near future,” Kitsinian remarked.
Blumenfield is slated to be the front-runner in a handful of hopefuls leading up to the March 5th primary. Thereafter, the top two candidates will likely square off in a general election on May 21st. Drawing on his political experience as a member of the California State Assembly since 2008, the Assemblymember asserted that he was the best candidate for the job, while boasting an extensive list of endorsements and awards.
“Assemblymember Blumenfield has been a long-time friend of the Armenian-American community,” said Tonya Barseghian, former board member of the Encino Neighborhood Council and current board member of the ANCA-SFW. “He is a tremendous leader with an invaluable experience as a state Assemblymember, and would contribute significantly to the Los Angeles City Council,” concluded Barseghian.
