MONTEBELLO, Calif.—On Friday, August 23, 2013, the newly elected Armenian Relief Society, Nairy Chapter Executive, together with some of its members and Montebello Councilman Jack Hadjinian, met with VONS representatives –Carlos Illingworth, Director of Public Affairs and Government Relations, Melissa Casillas, Human Resources, and Steve Lucero, Manager of the Montebello Store.
Nairy Chapter was presented with a donation of $500.00 from Vons towards its Annual Scholarship Fund.
The Vons/Safeway Corporation representatives were given information about the various social and educational programs of the Nairy chapter. They were greatly impressed and vowed to work closely with the Armenian Relief Society and the Montebello community. Suggestions were made by both sides to further improve the services locally and to get Vons more involved in the humanitarian projects of the Nairy Chapter.
This was the first step for ARS Nairy towards long term cooperation with local establishments. The Nairy members truly appreciate the enthusiasm and generosity of Vons and look forward towards a successful year.
