YEREVAN—President Serzh Sarkisian had a phone conversation Friday with His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, and His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, the President’s Press Office reports.
The leaders discussed issues related to the state of the Syrian Armenian community and the security of the Armenian diplomatic representation in Syria.
Among other things they discussed ways of providing assistance to Syrian Armenians under the conditions of the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the country.
Welcome them into Armenia. There is no other option. Since we’ve had and independent Armenia for over 20 years, there is no longer the need to stay in other people’s lands and suffer the consequences. It’s high time that Armenians shake off the fantasy Armenia and accept the real Armenia.
President Sarkisian needs to contact Amb. Kerry and get assurances that no US attack endangers the Armenian community in Syria and that we (US) will be held responsible if the “rebels”, aka al-nusra/al-Qaeda, continue their attacks on the Syrian Christian community. He should also, with the help of diasporan agencies, enlist the support of the Christian community in America to come to the aid of these people.
We are not going to sit back and watch another Christian community in the region annihilated like we saw in Iraq.
Also, just incase we don’t succeed in saving them, better reactivate the Nemesis program.
Maybe the Russians, who have a military presence in Syria would like to show their friendship to Armenia by aiding the effort, or is that too much to ask?
It’s hard to believe (and pathetic), that these relatives of survivors of the Genocide a 100 years ago would be facing what looks like Musa Dagh 2013, today.
we wll be dead, when Armenian cause is dead, long Live Armenian cause!
They should all be airlifted into Armenia. Artsakh is waiting to be settled by Armenians. There should not be the slightest hesitation. The diaspora should provide ample contributions to the logistics of returning them to their homeland.
