As Armenian National Soccer Team star Yura Movsisyan stepped into the building, the atmosphere at Ferrahian High School became electrifying.
Students sat in awe as Movsisyan began to talk about his career as a professional soccer player. His speech was not just about soccer though. It reinforced hard work, a belief in one’s ability and reminded the students to persevere and respect your elders, especially your teachers, who have given up a lot to give back to the Armenian community.
When asked about the future of Armenian soccer, he responded very optimistically, noting that the squad has a good chance of making it to the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament.
After answering a few questions, students rushed towards the soccer star in order for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sneak in a picture and get an autograph from the talented soccer star. He obliged by signing everything from cleats to cell phones.
Toward the end, Yura met with the Ferrahian Armens varsity soccer team exclusively and congratulated them and their coach Arshag Markarian on their recent victory of the CIF International League Championship. The Armens soccer team had a gift for Movsisyan; a varsity Armens soccer jersey with his name and number on the back.
His appearance came as an early Christmas present for the students at Ferrahian and everyone left the event swelling with Armenian pride as one of our own gains notoriety on the world stage!
