BOSTON—The Nagorno Karabakh Republic’s Permanent Representative to the United States, Robert Avetisyan, participated in a roundtable discussion on the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict, hosted at Massachusetts’ Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, organized by students of the university’s Tavitian Scholars Program, Class of 2014.
Dr. Michael Glennon, Dr. Alan Henrikson, and Dr. Ruben Shugaryan, as well as regional experts and students from the Fletcher School and other universities attended the event, titled “In Pursuit of Peace.” The event was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the signing of the ceasefire between Nagorno Karabakh, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.
Meeting participants exchanged views on political, legal, and humanitarian aspects of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh, as well as various geopolitical regional developments.
In his comments, Robert Avetisyan stressed the importance of a comprehensive and constructive negotiation process, restoration of Artsakh’s full participation in the negotiations process, and implementation of confidence-building measures between the conflicting sides.
Robert Avetisyan also offered ideas on reinforcement of the ceasefire regime, and intensification of effective negotiations towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict with Azerbaijan.
