STEPANAKERT—The President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Bako Sahakian told Voice of America that he has extended an invitation to the presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, the US, France and Russia, to visit Artsakh.
“We believe leaders of co-chair countries cannot achieve serious success in addressing the fate of a country and its people, without direct interaction with the people of the country,” Sahakian told Voice of America in an interview, which was featured in a 10-minute documentary entitled “Karabakh: Peaceful life Amid the Ghosts of war.”
Within the documentary, Sahakian is quoted as thanking the political leadership of those states in the US, which have passed resolutions recognizing the right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh and its independence.
Sahakian also said that while the struggle to attain international recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic may be complicated, but it is the only way through which the right to self-determination of its people will be affirmed.
The documentary chronicles the lives of the people of Artsakh, who live in the constant—and every day—threat of war and addresses the many facets of international efforts to negotiate a peaceful solution to the conflict.
“What the international community views as a region, for us is our sacred homeland,” says one Artsakh resident describing the possible detachment of the international community with the realities of the Artsakh and every-day struggles of its people.
I wonder if President Sahakian has ever heard any of the presentations given by the Israeli-Armenian expert Kevin Abrahamian. Abrahamian frequents Armenian-American circles and English-language Armenian forums. He has a lot to say about Russia, Greenpeace, and other issues. He currently resides in Glendale.
Wise move, he drew a line in the sand. Now let’s see how they respond.
Good job Mr. Sahakian, Bravo. And when these president’s are in Artsakh ( Nagarno Garabagh ) take them to visit Gandzasar, Ghazanchetotz, the ancient Armenian cemeteries, to the grave site of our heroic freedom fighters, to our proud statue of Mamik and Papik and swear to the Gods of Armenia and to this Holy Land that we will not give an inch of this sacred and promised Armenian land to no one on this earth of ours and tell them that the GenocidalTurks are a plaque to the world peace and to mankind.
Also mention to your guest presidents that the Armenian Martyrs will rise again and defend what belongs to them and there will be no concessions whatsoever.
Mr. Sahakian, remain strong and vigil, the entire Armenian World ( Ashkhar) is behind you. God bless Armenia and Artsakh.
Presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, the US, France and Russia, to visit Artsakh.should accept this invitation and send a clear message to Azerbaijan’s Aliyev that there is NO way back to the aspirations of Artsakh people, and that the independense of Artsakh is a consumated fact.
