AKHALKALAKI, Georgia (Mediamax)—The Georgian Ministry of Defense has announced it will open a Primary Combat Training Center in Akhalkalaki, in the Armenian-majority region of Javakhk, this year.
Georgian Defense Minister Mindia Janelidze said construction is underway for the training complex.
The area that will host the training facility was once home to a Russian military base.
Janelidze also mentioned that ”unprecedented joint exercises with the U.S.” are planned in Georgia for May of this year, but refrained from giving any further details.
