Thirty years on, we remember and honor Hagop Levonian, a great man, not only for his fate as a martyr, but also for the immeasurable contributions he made to the Armenian community in Australia and also in Lebanon.
His involvement and dedication is evident in the foundations of Sydney’s Armenian Cultural Centre, Armenian schooling, Armenian drama and radio.
It was simply in his nature to be selfless and to give to the Armenian community, to work tirelessly, to extend his heart, his voice, his home.
He orchestrated countless Armenian events & organizations, focusing on strengthening the Armenian spirit and empowering the Armenian diaspora.
He dedicated his life for the love of being Armenian and for the preservation of our Armenian identity and heritage.
On November 23, 1986, he made the ultimate sacrifice, for the recognition of over 1.5 million Armenians who lost their lives in the genocide of 1915 and the continual denial of such a tragic catastrophe. A wound in our history that remains open, but one we will never give up on.
Today, we honor and pay tribute to a husband, a father, an Armenian patriot, for sharing his vast talents, insights and kind spirit to the Armenian community worldwide.
Today we remember his preparedness to help in any way he could. We remember his willingness to serve his Armenian people. We remember his kindness, honesty, fun-loving and caring nature.
30 years on, we remember and hear his angelic voice. We will never forget you Hagop Levonian.
