MONTEBELLO—The ARS Nairy Preschool was full of excitement and joy as it celebrated the graduation of 12 Prekindergarten students. Proud parents, faculty and staff, Nairy members, and smiling children had packed the biggest classroom on Friday, June 21. The screen behind the make-shift stage displayed a colorful background of a prairie, decorated with painted flowers encircling each graduate’s name.
The Master of Ceremonies was Luis Barajas, Family Engagement Specialist, who skillfully directed the program. ARS Nairy Chapter President Sona Fundukian thanked the faculty and staff for their dedicated work, especially the Preschool director, Lilit Barsegyan, who has been at the helm of the school from the first day the pre-school opened its doors 21 years ago. The chapter has been committed to the progressive belief that early childhood education leads to greater student achievement. The PTA representative Claudia Alvarez thanked the parents for their help and cooperation and the teachers for their hard work. The preschool has grown to be an integral part of the community, providing young children a nurturing, enriched, and multicultural learning environment.

Decked out in their red, blue, and orange caps and gowns, the 12 graduates walked in, danced with their teachers, sang, recited, and received their diplomas. Director Barsegyan handed students their diplomas, and congratulated each graduate while the audience clapped enthusiastically.
A reception was held after the ceremony in the charming backyard, which was tastefully decorated with the day’s theme. The graduates thanked their teachers and said goodbye to their first school, filled with happy memories and a love for learning.
