Azerbaijani forces on Monday violated the ceasefire in the western region of Artsakh as a result of which two soldiers of the Artsakh Defense Army were injured, according to the defense ministry, adding that Azerbaijani forces used various caliber weapons and grenades to attack Armenian positions in Artsakh.
While the specific area of the attack was not mentioned by the Artsakh defense ministry, however, Lachin is located in the western region of Artsakh.
The latest ceasefire violation was reported to the Russian peacekeeping forces, which later on Monday said no violations were registered in the areas being manned by them.
Azerbaijan’s defense ministry claimed on Monday that Artsakh forces had opened fire on Azerbaijani positions in the Shushi, Martuni and Askeran regions.
Monday’s attack on Armenian positions follows sporadic shooting and targeting of civilians by Azerbaijani armed forces during the past several weeks. A farmer was injured and another farmer’s equipment was damaged during the sporadic attacks.
