Circus Vargas Big Top Becomes Part of Local Panorama
Get ready to witness an extraordinary display of talent, excitement, and wonder under the Big Top at Circus Vargas with the 2024 production, “Jubilé! An Epic World Celebration!” in three final LA County locations of the year, including Woodland Hills at Promenade Mall from September 27 to October 14, Torrance at Del Amo Fashion Center from October 18 to November 4, and Lakewood at Lakewood Center from November 8 to December 2.
The show features Opera trained Ringmaster, Johnathan Lee Iverson, who guides the audience through an experience of different cultures and nationalities, joining hand in hand, coming together through acrobatic and aerial artistry to entertain, laugh, live, love, and celebrate as one! Featuring the world’s finest performers from 15 different countries.
Before long, locals will witness a fresh and thrilling, albeit fleeting, addition to their familiar surroundings. The arrival of the Circus Vargas Big Top may appear almost magical to many, seamlessly blending into the community backdrop. However, it comes from an extensive endeavor known as the “Raising of the Big Top.” It requires 20 individuals for a minimum of seven hours to assemble the colossal structure. Like solving a complex puzzle, the process involves meticulous placement of tens of thousands of square feet of canvas fabric, numerous poles, hundreds of stakes, and extensive lengths of rope and cable, with no detail too small to overlook.

But just as swiftly as it materializes, it vanishes from sight. With careful handling and reverence, the big top is gracefully lowered, disassembled, neatly rolled, and stored away, prepared for its journey to the next destination where it will reside for the following weeks. As it departs from the local scene, the circus leaves behind enchanting memories and eager anticipation among people of all ages for its eventual return.
Circus Vargas invites all to witness the decades-long tradition of raising the Big Top on Wednesday, September 25, starting at 12 p.m. at Promenade Mall. Come and experience the magical transformation as sturdy canvas is turned into an intimate, theater-style venue, which serves as the home to America’s largest traveling tented circus.
