YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)Armenia’s Prime Minister Armen Sarkissian met with a delegation from Russia on Tuesday–headed by special envoy Vsevolod Oleandrov.
The goal of the current stage of Armenian-Russian negotiations is the discussion of the draft agreement on bilateral relations.
Sarkissian also touched upon his recent visit to Moscow and said that the agreemen’s he reached there have both economic and political significance.
Oleandrov stressed the importance of the agreement signed with the Russian Gasprom company– and said it was an important step forward in the development of Russian-Armenian trade relations–opening new perspectives for collaboration.
Armenia’s Foreign Minister Alexander Arzoumanian also met with Oleandrov on Wednesday.
Oleandrov said that the Russian Foreign Ministry is currently working with the relevant State Duma committees to speed up the ratification of a bilateral agreement–which will determine the fate of Russian military bases in Armenia.
