YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"Turkey has neither hostile intentions nor such feelings against Armenia. Armenia’s positive steps towards Azerbaijan will encourage Turkey to launch positive steps toward Armenia–which–in turn–is going to promote establishment of peace and stability in the region.
The main thing in this region is the inviolability of borders and possibilities for each nation to live within the limits of its own country without being exposed to aggression," Istemikhan Talay–member of the left-wing Democratic Party–said–describing the situation in the region.
The parliamentarian is in Yerevan to attend the session of the Committee for economic–trade–technological and environmental issues of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC)–which opened Thursday.
Establishment of friendly relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan will help improve the situation in the region–including the economic situation–said Talay. Following the establishment of peace and stability in the Transcaucasus–an economic alliance of Turkey–Georgia–Armenia and Azerbaijan will promote development in the region–he noted.
Asked to comment on the appointment of Robert Kocharian as prime minister of Armenia–Talay said–"I hold that the appointment of a prime minister who is familiar with the situation in Nagorno Karabakh–may only promote a resolution of the problem–for he together with the Karabakh people went through the known hardships–and now as prime minister he will be able to promote a resolution of the given problem."
