ANKARA (Itar-Tass)–Azerbaijan is prepared to grant autonomy to Nagorno-Karabakh to help put an end to the years of dispute with Armenia over the territory–Azeri Head of State Gaidar Aliyev said at a press conference in Istanbul Wednesday night. Aliyev–believes that the Karabakh conflict can be settled in a peaceful way this year. But a good deal of effort will be needed to do that–he said.
Seven bilateral documen’s on cooperation in various fields and a Declaration on the Development of Strategic Partnership were signed during Aliyev’s four-day visit to Turkey.
The Declaration–in particular–supports Turkey’s bid for the transportation of Caspian oil from Baku to Cayhan. The supply of oil to Turkish territories is to begin in the near future–Aliyev said.
