ISTANBUL (Hayots Ashkhar)–According to the Turkish Hurriet daily–the Armenian church of Chksalan–in the Beyoghlou district of Istanbul–was completely destroyed recently.
The city council nationalized the church a year and a half ago–and decided to convert it into a health center. Since the church was considered an ancient building–the government ordered the city council to restore the church. Regardless of this resolution–the city council completely demolished the Chksalan church.
