STEPANAKERT (Noyan Tapan)–A delegation–from the Siunik region of Armenia–led by Mayor of Goris Surik Khachatrian arrived in Karabakh Tuesday to discuss with National Assembly Speaker Oleg Yesayan.
Deputy Prime Minister Gerard Poghossian and Defense Minister Samvel Babayan the establishment of social–economic and political relations between the two neighboring territories.
Among topics discussed were economic integration and the mutual celebration of the 10th anniversary of the national liberation struggle of Karabakh. Karabakh officials presented a draft guideline for strengthening and expanding cooperation between Siunik and Nagorno-Karabakh.
The delegation was received by President Arkady Ghoukassian later that day. After greeting the guests–Ghoukassian referred to the similar fates of Karabakh and Siunik.
He presented Karabakh’s position in the ongoing peace process–underlining that the Karabakh problem was of national importance.
The members of the Armenian delegation expressed that one of the goals of their visit was to survey the political situation of Karabakh–as it is a concern for the people of Siunik.
