The Armenian Catholic Church announced that its second church has opened its doors since January 14.
The new church is located in Glendale–at 1510 East Mountain Ave.–in proximity to Glendale Community College. The church has been named "St. Gregory the Illuminator," in honor of he who helped establish Christianity as a state religion 1700 years ago.
United States Western Region Armenian Catholic Church head Father Raphael Minassian said–"I am sure that our new church–with its location and convenience–will fulfill all of our religious and church needs. With our church activities and programs–we hope to keep our community active and help the new generation spiritually–morally and culturally."
Today–the US and Canadian Armenian Catholic community has nine churches and five schools–including those of the Mkhitarist Fathers and Armenian Sisters efforts.
The official opening mass at St. Gregory the Illuminator church will be held on Sunday–March 29–at 3:00 p.m.–which will be followed by a prestigious celebration at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
A capacity crowd is expected. Religious leaders–political figures and representatives from the Armenian community will be present.
