YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ara Papian issued a statement Thursday regarding the latest developmen’s in the Kosovo conflict. Below is the full text of the statement:
"Armenia has always advocated for the right to self-determination and considers the violation of this right not to be conducive to the establishment of peace and stability. Armenia is concerned with the use of force by NATO–as it believes that the opportunities for the resumption of negotiations by the parties to the Kosovo conflict might not have been exhausted.
"We are deeply concerned that the use of force has been possible without a proper mandate by the UN Security Council. Armenia is closely following the situation in and around Kosovo and hopes that the parties will seek ways to find a peaceful resolution and prevent further escalation of the military conflict."
