MONTEVIDEO–Uruguay–The ARF Armenian National Committee of Uruguay and the Diocese Central Executive have jointly initiated a commemoration of the Armenian Genocide in the Uruguayan Parliament on April 24. Speakers include Parliament President Goustavo Penades and four additional representatives–each from different political parties represented in the parliament.
This is the first such event to take place in recent Uruguayan history. Uruguay was first country to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide in 1965.
