TIBLIS (Noyan Tapan)–On Friday June 15–in the Caucasus Russian troop General-Major Nikolay Zolotov announced to the "Novosti" agency that the Russian troop base number 137 in Vazian–Georgia will be relocated to Armenia. The remaining Russian bases will withdraw back to Russia and relocate to other Russian bases in Georgia.
Zolotov said that the Vazian base and its airport will be returned to Georgia next week June 20-22. The Russian General-Major refuted rumors that the base would be returned on June 15th. On the basis of the agreement in Tiblis–Russia will close its Vazian base until July 1–2002. The base’s furnishings–medical and military supplies were removed on April 23rd.
