ANKARA (Armenpress)–The Istanbul-based Turkish Daily News reported that Turkish Armenia’s’ Patriarch Mesrob Mutafyan paid short visits to a number of politicians in Ankara. Mutafyan visited State Minister Husamettin Ozkan and Deputy Prime Minister and ANAP leader Mesut Yilmaz. Mutafyan also met with True Path Party (DYP) leader Tansu Ciller.
The Armenian Patriarch is seeking support for the revision of the Foundations Law No. 227–which discriminates property rights of non-Muslim communities of Turkey.
Since 1936–the Armenian community–the largest non-Muslim community of Turkey–has been denied the right to own new community properties.
