Designed and developed by the Board of Regents of Prelacy Armenian Schools–an intensive five-day summer institute for Armenian subject teachers convened on Monday–August 11 at 8:30AM at Ferrahian Armenian School in Encino.
After welcoming the participants–Board of Regents Executive Director Hovan Tashjian introduced Board of Regents chairman Yeznig Kajandjian who said the program is consistent with the Board’s mission to provide outstanding educational opportunities for students attending Armenian schools–and hoped that the five-day program will present the opportunity for Armenian instruction to be more modern and specialized. The chairman thanked the Armenian Educational Foundation for its $15,000 grant that made the program a reality.

The chairwoman of the Armenian Educational Foundation Aida Yeghiazarian said she is pleased that the Foundation’s grant has enabled the development of such a unique training program–and expressed hope that the seminar would become a continuous program.
With the focus on contemporary pedagogical approaches available to teachers–the program will introduce Armenian language–history–and literature teachers to current trends in teaching-enabling them to incorporate new methodologies in teaching Armenian subjects in order to make instruction of Armenian subjects more interesting–practical and desirable for students.
Participating teacher will attend two-hour sessions–twice daily–in groups designated by the grade levels they teach–from preschool to high school.
