YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Seventeen secondary school Armenian language teachers will conclude on August 29 an extensive course on classical Armenian spelling (Western Armenian). The top four teachers will then teach the spelling style at their schools.
Instruction of classical Armenian spelling–which substantially differs from Eastern Armenian (used in the Republic of Armenia)–is expected to help graduates overcome the difference between the two spelling styles and eventually contribute to a narrowing of differences.
This is the third year the Western Armenian language course has been taught; the course is organized by the education and scientific Spuyrk (Diaspora) center–with assistance from the Paris-based Mashdots Union for the Maintenance of the Armenian Language.
