YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A composer–a writer–and a sculptor won an annual competition for presidential awards Wednesday. They are composer Hrachya Melikian for "Three Concerts," dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Armenian genocide; writer Henrik Edoyan for "Three Days without Time;" and sculptor Getik Baghdasarian for his monument to Hamo Sahian–which was erected in 2004 in a square in the town of Sisian where the writer was born.
The contest–established by the president–was first announced in 2002 for such categories as music–fine arts–literature and oratory–architecture–theatrical–and film arts.
The winners were awarded medals–diplomas–and 2.5 million drams each. Unfortunately–no winners in the category of architecture were announced.
