(Combined Sources)–There were no details from London following the start of talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the conflict in Mountainous Karabagh.
Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian and his Azeri counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov began meetings at the Russian embassy in London on Wednesday. Also attending the talks were the Russian co-chair of the mediating OSCE Minsk Group Yuri Merzlyakov–his US and French counterparts Steven Mann and Bernard Fassier–and an OSCE Polish representative.
Oskanian and Mammadyarov were to hold private meetings on Thursday–which was to be followed by a news briefing.
Azeri Deputy Foreign Minister and presidential envoy on the Karabagh conflict Araz Azimov is also in London for the meetings–according to Azeri news sources.
The foreign ministers are laying the groundwork for an OSCE initiated meeting between Armenian and Azeri presidents scheduled for February.
