ISTANBUL (Marmara)–Unknown assailants fired four shots Monday at the rectory of the St. Garabed Armenian Church in the Uskudar district of the city.
Marmara reported that local priest Rev. Barkev Nalbandian and his wife, who reside in the rectory, were not home at the time.
Local police immediately began an investigation into the incident.
The shooting comes amid heightened tensions in Turkey following a double bombing in Istanbul last week, which killed 17 people and injured 150 others.
