STEPANAKERT (Presidential Press Service)–Nagorno-Karabakh Republic President Bako Sahakian Tuesday gave a “state of the republic” address to local government bodies, the legislature and the judicial branch and highlighted the importance of developing and resettling the Kashatagh (Lachin) and Shahoumian districts of the Republic.
“I think close attention should be paid to the Kashatagh and Shahoumian regions. Completion of projects and the successful completion of socio-economic development projects in Kashatagh and Shahoumian are of utmost importance. This process will be under my direct supervision,” said President Sahakian.
The Karabakh leader told local government heads that the coordination of efforts between local, regional and national bodies lacked in consistency and outlined ways of improving them. He also highlighted the importance of each district to fully realize its potential in production, as well as follow up on projects.
Sahakian also highlighted the need for reforms and improvement in the agriculture industry and directed the legislature to immediately adopt relevant legislation to address the challenges and increase production.
Another challenge Sahakian discussed was the enhancement of healthcare and improving services. Building new medical facilities and improving existing ones were a top priority for the Sahakian administration and he directed the local governmen’s to also prioritize these projects.
To facilitate the free flow of information, the president highlighted the need to expand the reach and frequency of Karabakh’s national television channel, Artsakh TV.
”I call on the government to carry out appropriate measures to secure the broadcast of the national television channels of Artsakh and Armenia on the entire territory of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic by the end of 2009,” added Sahakian.
