YEREVAN (News.am)—To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the Union of Armenians of Russia and the World Armenian Congress have set out to plant 1.5 million trees throughout Armenia by 2015.
“We must prove once more that the fact of the Armenian Genocide does not need checking, but it must be admitted and condemned,” said Vladimir Aghayan, the vice-Chairman of the two organizations, at a conference held at the Armenian National Academy of Sciences on Wednesday.
The announcement garnered interest by conference participants, with Acadamy President Radik Martirosyan and the Chairman of Armenia’s Writers’ Union, Levon Ananyan, praising the initiative.
