ANKARA (World Bulletin)–Technical delegations from Ankara and Tehran will conduct talks in the eastern province of Igdir to establish a Free Industrial Zone between Turkey and Iran.
Igdir Governor Saffet Karahisarli met with economists from Iran and the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Trade Thursday to discuss the details behind the proposed economic zone.
Speaking to reporters, Governor Karahisarli said that delegations from Turkey and Iran would hold talks to establish a free industrial zone on the border connecting Turkey, Iran and Nakhchevan.
Following talks in Igdir, the delegations will visit the Turkish provinces of Agri, Van and Hakkari, Karahisarli added.
Igdir, a historic Armenian territory now under Turkish occupation, is in the eastern Anatolia region bordering present day Armenia, Nakhchevan and Iran.
