On the fourth anniversary of Hrant Dink’s murder, the new editor-in-chief of Dink’s Istanbul-based Agos weekly, Robert Koptas, speaks with Alexander Christie-Miller of the Southeast European Times about his predecessor’s assassination and legacy and its broader implications for Turkey and its Armenian minority.
Dink was assassinated outside the offices of his Turkish-Armenian bilingual paper in 2007. His murder is allegedly linked to elements within Turkey’s “Deep State.” Dink is believed to have been silenced for using his newspaper to address some the most sensitive issues surrounding modern Turkey’s cultural and ethnic identity, including the denial of the Armenian Genocide.
