TBILISI (Combined Sources)—Two Armenian citizens of Georgia were killed in a crash of Airzena Georgian Airways’ aircraft, which was on a UN mission in the Congo.
Deputy Director of Airzena Air said that captain Alexey Hovhannisyan and technician Albert Manukyan are among those killed in the crash.
All 33 people on board of the plane were reported killed.
Spokesperson for Airzena Air, Nino Giorgobiani confirmed the plane crash earlier. “Because of heavy rain and wind, the aircraft struck the runway, broke up and caught fire while landing,” she said.
According to Giorgobiani, only bad weather was to blame for the tragedy. “We have been serving the UN mission for three years, and the aircraft underwent its last inspection on December 22. It had no problems,” she said.
