GLENDALE—The committee charged with organizing the most prestigious yearly banquet in the Armenian community, the Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region’s Annual Banquet, has been formed. It will be led by two co-chairs, Christina Jabarian and Linda Adran. Jabarian is an active member of the Armenian Missionary Association of America and Armenian International Women’s Association while Adran is a board member of the Armenian National Committee-Professional Network.
“Having Christina and Linda running the show is like having two all-stars who understand each other playing on the same team. They’re both individually great but the synergies that are created when the two come together make them dynamic,” said ANCA-WR Board Chairman Andrew Kzirian. “With the rest of our stellar committee, it’s already clear that this year’s Banquet will be one that goes above and beyond all of our past ones.”
The Banquet, which is the premier yearly event of the ANCA-WR, highlights the work of the organization over the past year and honors a number of individuals who have played an integral role to the advancement of the Armenian Cause. Past honorees have included then attorney general, and current California Governor, Jerry Brown; rock band System of a Down; UCLA Armenian Studies Professor and Chair, Richard Hovannisian, among many other notable personalities.
Jabarian explained what inspired her to join the committee: “I hold the ANCA-WR in the highest regard and I have a deep respect for the organization and the work that it does. To co-chair this committee and surpass the high expectations for the Annual Banquet will be no easy task but I am ready and confident that we will organize an event to remember.”
As a board member of the ANC-PN, Adran was familiar with the ANCA-WR and its work but she happily seized the opportunity to lead the organization of what she called “the single most important yearly gathering in the Armenian American community.” She continued, “What other event brings together elected officials, community leaders, successful businesspeople, celebrities, and activists, young and old? None! I’m elated to be a part of something so unique.”
The Banquet Committee will be announcing the date and venue for the 2011 Annual Banquet in the coming weeks and guests are asked to purchase their tickets early because the event has sold out in past years.
The Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region is the largest and most influential Armenian American grassroots advocacy organization in the Western United States. Working in coordination with a network of offices, chapters, and supporters throughout the Western United States and affiliated organizations around the country, the ANCA-WR advances the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of issues.
