GLENDALE—The Armenian National Committee of Glendale and the Armenian Bar Association announced this week the jump start of their 2011 free legal clinic series, conducted in both English and Armenian, for Glendale residents on a quarterly basis. The first clinic, which will address immigration issues, will take place on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 from 6:00pm to 8:00 p.m. at K&M Karamanoukian, Glendale Youth Center, 211 W. Chestnut St., Glendale, CA 91204.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Armenian Bar Association to provide the much needed services and guidance to the Glendale community,” stated Elen Asatryan, Executive Director of ANC Glendale. ”Due to the overwhelming number of community members that attended our previous legal clinics with immigration issues, we felt that we would better serve the community by specializing the topics of the legal clinics to meet that demand,” added Asatryan.
Volunteer attorneys from the Armenian Bar Association will provide free legal advice and guidance on questions dealing with immigration issues. Clinics are limited to advice and consultation only. Attendees who wish to have their case taken by volunteer attorneys on a pro bono basis after the legal clinic must provide low income verification.
Attendees are encouraged to bring to the clinic documentation pertaining to their legal issues such as agreements or contracts (signed or proposed), written rules or policies, court orders, court papers served or that were filed with the court, all letters and specific paperwork related to the case.
“The Armenian Bar Association is equally excited to sustain this partnership with the Armenian National Committee of Glendale. Our free legal clinic continues to demonstrate the necessity of such services available to the community,” stated ArmenBar Chairman, Edvin Minassian.
Although walk-ins are welcome, community members interested in attending the clinic are encouraged to schedule an appointment to avoid a long wait by emailing info@ancglendale.org or calling 818.243.3444. Attendees will be served on a first come, first served basis.
The Armenian Bar Association was formed in 1989 to provide an arena for lawyers of Armenian heritage to come together socially and professionally and to address the legal concerns of the Armenian community
The Armenian National Committee-Glendale Chapter advocates for the social, economic, cultural, and political rights of the city’s Armenian American community and promotes increased civic participation at the grassroots and public policy levels.
