LAS VEGAS—The Armenian National Committee – Political Action Committee (ANC-PAC) is encouraging the large and growing Armenian American community in Nevada to vote for Danny Tarkanian in the Republican Party primary for U.S. Senate that is slated to be held on Tuesday, June 8.
“We are pleased to announce our support for Danny Tarkanian in the Republican Primary. He’s an exceptionally talented and hard-working public servant, a highly effective standard bearer for the Republican Party, and a proud son of the Armenian American community,” said Armen Martin, Chairman of the ANC-PAC. “Every single Armenian American vote for Danny on June 8th in the Republican U.S. Senate Primary will be vital to his victory in this contest and to positioning him one step closer to becoming first Armenian American to serve in the U.S. Senate.”
Danny Tarkanian, a graduate of the University of San Diego Law School, is a successful businessman and dedicated husband and father. He and his wife Amy live in Las Vegas with their four children, including their newborn son Jerry Tarkanian, Jr. His father is Jerry Tarkanian, a proud Armenian American, who is among the most successful college basketball coaches in NCAA history. His mother Lois Huter Tarkanian is a well-respected educator who is a Las Vegas City Councilwoman and has been elected to the Clark County School Board of Education for twelve straight years.
“It is an honor to have the ANC-PAC, the leading Armenian American political action committee, support my campaign,” said Tarkanian. “Leaders from the ANC-PAC have been instrumental in helping me secure the Republican nomination. I look forward to working with them on areas of critical importance to Armenian Americans including passage of an Armenian Genocide Resolution, increasing aid to Armenian and Nagorno Karabagh and defeating these ill-conceived Protocols being forced down Armenia’s throat by Turkey and the Obama Administration.”
Tarkanian is known as a strong conservative who is a proven vote getter in Nevada. Only four years ago, Tarkanian won the Republican primary and garnered over 230,000 votes in his race for Nevada Secretary of State. He is already leading eight other Republican candidates, including former Nevada Republican Party leader Sue Lowden and Sharron Angle, in the June 8, 2010 Republican U.S. Senate Primary. Recent polls show Tarkanian winning the Republican primary, as well as 14 points ahead in a hypothetical general election matchup. He is the only candidate in the Republican Primary to speak publicly in support of the views and values of Nevada’s Armenian American community
The ANC-PAC is a non-partisan federally registered political action committee established to support campaign committees for Members of Congress who share the values of the Armenian American community. The ANC-PAC is at the forefront of efforts to ensure that the voice of the Armenian American community is clearly heard in our nation’s capital. The ANC-PAC continues a century old tradition of Armenian American engagement on the public policy issues facing national political leaders, both in the U.S. Congress and the White House.
