Representatives of Yasser Arafat–President of the Palestinian Autonomy–presented Catholicos Aram I with a formal invitation to Palestine–at a visit paid at the Catholicosate of the Holy See of Cilicia–Tuesday.
During the meeting–Palestinian representatives presented the Pontiff with the current situation and conditions of Palestinian-Israeli relations–including Jerusalem land matters and–asked him to continue supporting the Palestinians during their struggle for justice.
Arafat’s representatives also reassured the Catholicos of Palestinian support of the Armenian Cause and disapproved of Turkey’s stance on Armenian matters.
His Holiness restated his belief in the just cause of the Armenia’s and Palestinians–and said that the Armenian people have always supported the Palestinians and condemned Israel for seizing Arab land.
He also condemned Israeli attempts to alter the identity of Jerusalem–a holy city for three world religions.
