YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–President Robert Kocharian issued a decree appointing Aram Tamazian Prosecutor General of Armenia and relieving him of the post of Public Prosecutor of Yerevan.
On February 21–the President introduced the newly appointed prosecutor general to the board of the Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia.
Kocharian stressed that the law-enforcement system must serve exclusively the law and state. According to him–the newly appointed prosecutor general has worked in the legal system for many years and is well acquainted with its activities and problems.
The President expressed optimism that under the direction of the new prosecutor general the system will continue its normal work.
